I was scared to show other women how to heal their thyroid. It hit too close to home. Inside, I was constantly thinking about my stress, sleep, digestion, what I was eating, and how it affected me daily.
A mentor of mine said, "Who do I need to be to be the lighthouse?" Who do I need to be to be to be a guide for other women? I told myself that I needed to have it all figured out and be already healthy to be able to show people how to live, feel, breathe, sleep, think, and poop better. But, here is the deal. I am more than my diagnosis. I consider and support myself without judgment ( most of the time), love myself, and feel good about what I have done with my life within my circumstances. Life goes on whether we like it or not. Good days, bad days.
I ran for 20 years from being the leader I wanted to be. I needed to be ready to be the leader I needed 20 years ago when I was diagnosed and had no support, mainly because there wasn't any information for me to learn from. I was given the diagnosis at 19 with hypothyroidism. Me, the hippie chick who doesn't want to take drugs or meds... And this diagnosis was for the rest of my life? It wasn't until I was 27 that I finally learned about Hashimoto's. I was confused and sad. Why did no one tell me about testing for this?
What about my gut issues?
What about my acne?
What about my mood swings?
I wanted to learn what I could to help heal myself. I sought out the professionals who were doing the extra research to help people. I was lucky to land in this world in my chosen profession. As chiropractors, we focus on natural medicine. I have always been fascinated by how plants have been healing people for thousands of years. In the last 150 years, we have fed people less food and more synthetic medications.
I saw then that there was a need to share this information with the world. Why wasn't anyone talking about it?
Who did I need to be in order to be someone who someone would want to listen to and learn from?
I spent a lot of time avoiding the fact that I needed to share this information. I thought, who am I? I was also fearful. "What if I was having a bad day? How can I be a doctor AND a patient at the same time?
Well, the time has come that I have made peace with the fact that I am a human and not perfect. I am on this journey in real time, just like you. I am here to guide you on your journey and like you make mistakes along the way. We are not purists here at Thyroid Reset. We are champions of health- we continue together and will succeed!
In health and happiness,
